We were invited to my sister-in-law's for BBQ on Memorial Day, so I didn't have to cook. A plus! But I brought Mountain Trail Mix along as a token item... The afternoon started out quirky, as do most of our get togethers... My sister-in-law left to go to a friend's house to obtain a screwdriver in order to assemble the new kiddie picnic table she bought for the occassion. My mother-in-law had to run to the grocery store to buy new ice cream for the banana splits (because someone left her freezer door open, she said, and melted all of the ice cream she had). And I was left with my kids and my nieces and my nieces' friend to play Barbies. There were about 20 naked Barbies and my agenda was to get them all dressed, which proved not to be an easy task.
David put the chicken on the grill, the volleyball net was set up for "later," and the holiday fun was about to begin. But then... out of nowhere... the rains came. And came. And came. Yes, it was a washout. My kids danced in the rain for a bit and we ended up having a nice meal inside (minus my girls dramatically spitting out the potatoe salad). But the festivities were shortened and my family went home early. I brought Rebekah back to the rocker in my room to feed her. I fell asleep on the chair with her in my arms. At some point David came in to scoop the baby up. After that I crawled into my bed. I must've been washed out too!
