These aren't "big" things in the scheme of things. They do take planning, however, so it keeps my life interesting. I spend too much time on a daily basis "beating myself up" for not doing more or wishing I had other opportunities as others seem to have. So if I manage to do just a small something now and then, people shouldn't say, "You are too busy" or "You shouldn't do that." I WANT to do it, and I am thankful for the minuscule things I do accomplish because it gives me a little self worth and satisfaction in my simple world...
Now, I want to talk about the outdoors. I took a picture of the beetles that land on our porch every night so we can take a moment to ponder their short lives. Aren't they interesting?
And I want to give thanks too for Mr. Beau's garden next door. Is it not beautiful? He and Miss Mary have so graciously given us luscious vegetables all summer, namely cucumbers. I love cucumbers, but can only eat so many of them at one time. So I try to give them away. I hope Mr. Beau wouldn't mind if he ever found out that I did that. I would make pickles, but I'm not sure that I would really eat them or like them that way. I'm scared to research a pickle recipe too. Don't know why...
Finally, I want to write a brief about part of our day today. Haleah was in naughty corner for lashing out at me. And when she was there for but a moment, she looked back at me and said sweetly, "Am I sorry?" I said, "I don't know...are you?" It was funny. And once Haleah was out of naughty corner, Kaelah went straight there and sat down and started to whimper. She started muttering, "bite," "hit," "nau-nee." She was making up imaginary reasons for why she was in naughty corner on her own volition. Too funny!
David went with our pastor to help a woman move some furniture out her home with some other men from church. Later, we were invited back to our pastor's home for hot dogs and homemade ice cream. David helped them wire up new light fixtures for their front entrance. It's starting to look real nice. While I was inside the house with the girls I was scared to death that they were going to break something or smash something or get themselves hurt or into trouble. Kaelah managed to get into their spice drawer, put her hands in their toilet, unroll their toilet paper, pull the blinds and made an attempt at the dog's food, among other things. She is just a whirlwind who leaves gale force winds behind her. I could hardly keep up... She also skinned her knee outside. I think her new nickname will henceforth be "Boo Boo," since she gets at least of few of them every day.
All in all, we had a nice time with good people and came home to a mess that I finished cleaning here late at night. So we can wake up to a clean, fresh smelling house, all ready to mess up during the day tomorrow again... My busy life!
