Accessory to a Bird Murder???

Yesterday I saw a bird sitting next to the planters on our front porch. I watched him for a moment and realized he wasn't eager to get "moving along," so I asked David to check him out. As he headed for the bird, about five robins in flight nearby started to divebomb him, sending David a message to "back off." The bird was injured, apparently, but our fat cat was also on the loose. So David quickly moved the bird to the side of the porch, for cover, as his own head almost got pecked upon.

Later in the day, we noticed the bird had hobbled to the back yard and settled underneath our trampoline. (At least I think it was the same bird; unless injured birds keep falling out of the sky for some reason). Anyhow, we let it be...

But today, as the kids went out back to play with their Sand & Sea toy, a terrible discovery was made--- a bird floating bottom up in the "Sea." It was just at that moment, thank goodness, that David came home from work and met up with us in the back yard. He was the one we initiated to scoop the bird out and make arrangements for him. So my toddlers and my two nieces had an impromptu funeral (orchestrated by David), behind the shed. The poor birdy was buried with the yellow plate-like toy that he was scooped up with, and David made a cross out of sticks.

And for the rest of the night Kaelah was heard walking around the house going, "Birdy. Birdy. Birdy..." It kind of makes me wonder... if I didn't forget to pour the water out of the "Sea," then perhaps that poor bird would've been alive today. I didn't mean to kill him. I feel horrible about it, I really do.

On a lighter note, I watched my nieces today and they helped me out a lot. Gracyn cleaned my tub (God bless her), and made cheesecake for dessert. Cora searched the Kohl's website for potential work shoes for David. We presented him with his options when he came home, as his current shoes HAVE to go! Cora also made a new Poopy Potty Chart for Haleah, to coax her into doing #2 on the pot. We'll see! We also went to the post office to deliver a special care package to a sick friend. Gracyn helped me pack it up.

Cora and Gracyn also had a fun time today writing down all of the cool clothes from Kohl's that they want to have, writing down the descriptions and item numbers and sizes. Somehow they got it through their little heads that I am going to purchase these items for them someday. Okay, I guess I'm made of money!

The precious parts of the day were when Kaelah hugged me around my neck, when Haleah said a prayer thanking God for a "naughty day," and when Bekah cooed wided-eyed at me as she drooled, and then slowly fell asleep. I can tell my kids love me, and I love them too---so much!
