Can't Win for Trying

So yesterday was another "fun-filled" day of potty training. Haleah actually is doing so well with the peeing part, but we're still working on the other. While in the bathroom attempting to get Haleah to sit up there to try #2, Kaelah showed interest. So, I put her up on the potty to "go." Then I took Kaelah down and put Haleah up there. While I was talking to Haleah, Kaelah promptly peed all over my bathroom rug. I didn't have time to put her diaper back on, but I didn't think she was going to pee. When will I learn?

Haleah told us she didn't have to go #2, so we put her to nap. Well, David checked on her before he went to work that afternoon, and Haleah was still awake, and had pooped in her undies. Poor Haleah is going to have to hear these horror stories of her potty training escapades when she gets older.

One good thing is that she IS sleeping well in her big girl bed. She loves it. The other morning when I woke up, I noticed that our door was closed. I asked David if he had closed it, because my recollection was that I had kept it open. Anyhow, I got up and went to the living room and Haleah was out there all alone and had buckled herself into Bekah's bouncy (and couldn't get out). But she was happy as a clam with her newfound freedom of getting out of bed herself and roaming the house. It was she who had closed our door.

During the day yesterday I watched Cora and Gracyn. Cora straightened my hair for me. She is at the age where she is really into this stuff. I told her that I just look like a dump most days because I don't have time for myself. But she had fun trying to make me look "pretty." Now if only I had time for clothes and makeup!

At nighttime, after bath last night, I was taking Kaelah into her room when I stepped in poop. I was completely horrified. It must've escaped from someones diaper at some point in the day. Will the grossness ever stop?

One final note: As we were going outside tonight to play in the last moments before bed, Haleah took a dive out the door and scraped open the top of her foot. She howled like a big dog and wouldn't let me touch it or go near it. But my thought is this---why is it that children have so many bruises and scrapes, etc.? I was wondering this during their bath and their limbs look so bad. It looks like I abuse them or something. And I try so very hard to keep them safe. I can't win, I guess (and neither can they).
