It's Time...

I just got back from Walmart after a long day, and now it's time to blog. I ran into my friend Leah in the baby aisle. Our babies are 10 days apart, and we both nursed and ran out to the store. We were both running through Walmart like mad women. Sometimes I have the terrible thought that something might happen to me during my night excursions to Walmart. I am never worried about myself, only about what would happen to my babies (and especially my nursing baby).

They say that if you are going to give a bottle as a supplement that you should offer the baby a bottle between 6-8 weeks. Well, oops, I missed that window again. Bekah is almost 12 weeks, so I guess maybe subconsciously I didn't want to supplement with her. When Kaelah (my second born), was 6 months old, I was telling my friend Jen that I needed to start supplementing, but that Kaelah was refusing the bottle. Jen just told me outright, "Lara, you're supposed to do that at 6 weeks, not 6 months." Ooops! I guess I can't keep things straight. So Bekah will be attached to me, basically, until her first birthday. And I will have to continue my crazy Walmart runs late at night if I want to
venture out childless.

The earlier part of the day was fun. We went over to David's Mom's house (Grandmama's) to have a BBQ and pool party. The pool was giving Grandmama trouble, so David was outside working to get it ready. It was barely swimable once the cousins came over to join us. But they got in and had some fun.

Haleah also did #2 in the potty today at home before we left. I was so proud of her. Then, at Grandmama's she refused to do #2 in the potty when she had to go, and ended up going in a Pull Up. I guess I'll take the good with the bad and the ugly. She's a sneaky one though, because she waits until she gets her gifts and surprises for going #2 in the potty, then decides to turn the tables back on her own.

This day at Grandmama's was a secret surprise for David. His 38th (gasp) Birthday is coming up and we were going to celebrate. I grilled some of his favorite steak and made southwestern grilled corn on the cob and baked potatoes. We ate dinner as normal, then we got David to go outside to check the pool. And when he went out there, we whipped out all the decorations, cake and presents to sing to him and surprise him when he came back in. When he first went outside though, I was rounding the corner with the cake, when he came back in to get his shoes. I had to practically throw the cake near the side of the couch. My nieces were giggling the whole time as they themselves were running the presents back down the hall to hide until David went back out.

I got David an Ipod so that he can listen to his Chuck Swindoll sermons that he likes to hear. And he got an ITunes gift certificate from his Mom and a National Treasure 2 DVD from his sister and nieces. And his nieces made him a giant card too for "Bean," their endearing nickname for him. It had a big guitar on it, which was cool.

David was funny and said of the Ipod, "How much did I spend on this?" It's hard to buy something and do something nice for him because he is the one who works while I stay at home with the kids. So in essence, I just spend his money. And he doesn't like it when I spend it on him. Oh, well. There's no easy way around it. All in all it was a good day.
